Welcome To My Coin Collecting Journey!

First, welcome to the site and hopefully you will follow along with me as I navigate the world that is coin collecting, looking for that one piece I can share a discussion with my Dad. Each week, I will focus in on a coin and discuss it, maybe share something you didn’t know, but mainly show you how a piece of metal can mean much more then whether it’s made of silver or gold.

This was one of the few lessons I was taught when I was young. Take in not just what’s in front of you but also what’s behind it, what created it, and what significance did it play or was its part of. Coins are one of these things that are more than just currency, they tell a story of a time they were made, and witness to everything after it was minted. It’s also a piece of history you can hold in your hand, being one of the many in a long line of people over the centuries who held it before you.

Collecting coins started as a hobby but quickly became more; it was a way to honor Dad's memory. Each one has a story, and with each piece I find and add, it's like adding to our conversations. It's bittersweet, feeling his absence but also feeling close to him through something he loved.
